The Lagoon of Trenque Lauquen

More and better rivalries in a new season where there is to find the back to be able to catch it. Image gallery.

The encounter with Diego Guapper and Olaff is already a routine that is repeated every year. Happens that large fennel is always accommodated to be among the best Buenos Aires lagoons, this season with much more optimism since he entered water of rain and increased his average at more than 2 meters depth: is currently between 5.50 and 6 meters.

Water comes from the province of Córdoba, low river v by decline, enters the laguna leather Fox and by means of a canal empties into fennel. These waters then exit through the merchant channel towards the area of Pehuajó. This whole movement of water brought rigged the migration of mackerel from different ports and also the entrance of food, such as shrimp, brunette and mojarras, which makes this 5,000 acre mirror an important reservoir of silverside.

I came out from the city of Buenos Aires in the company of Alfredo Allende and Sebastián Parini. Along the way the route 5 of 450 km between us of Trenque Lauquen, we want to talk about fishing the next day we were going to make. We knew the good yield of this lagoon with regular wind, making fishing gareteando and silverside itching between 30 and 80 cm depth, usually using buoys girls wooden raft. We would use canes between 4 and 4.50 metres, telescopic and plug, using medium-sized reels loaded with nylon that floats from 0,235 mm or 0.14/0 multifilament, 16mm.

Our hosts were we expecting arriving in Trenque Lauquen. After the greetings of rigor entered the subject of fishing: “very good size with wind and always gareteando”, assured us. And then each one with his little book: Olaff fishing with no more short lines of 1 m per buoy, very manageable, especially if it proves close to the boat; and Diego uses lines with more separate buoys, between 1.40 and 1.80 m further away from the boat fishing (if the line is long should be placed between the buoys one of 6/8 mm so the nylon does not sink).

The following, very early morning, went to the Redonda lagoon fishing, which now only has access by 424,5 Km (there is a sign that announces it). The road is land in good condition. After 10 km we reach the fishing. We were received by Joseph, the Manager, who informed us that the venue has an endowment of around 30 boats for rent, as well as canteen, grocery and camping. What caught my attention is you embark for the channel due to the almost 3 meters more water, such as was done in the past.

Different techniques

We do fishing in two boats. In one would go Diego, Alfredo and Sebastian, and the other would share it with Guillermo Cabrera and Leonardo Poggi. We prepare our teams by placing the reel to the reeds, passing the nylon or multifilament for the passer but not deploy them in the case of telescopic and stretches without assembling, only with the reel settled, to avoid breaks in the journey to the fishing spot.

We left on the channel to the open lagoon. The day was sunny with light wind from the Northwest that was curling water. Diego was near the fishing and to the right; with Cabrera, we went to the center of the lagoon facing the wind. Arriving at the venue, we got anchor to start the hell of nightstick, i.e. with the cross to be able to fish more comfortable boat. Then we finished assembling fishing gear and put the lines.

Cabrera used an orange buoy criterion N ° 3, Leonardo a jerky stick green lemon and I a as white with multirreflejos. We use different separations of buoys. Cabrera had the shortest line and the length of the snoods was 35, 50 and 65 cm in depth, by placing the longest at the farthest mark (the first or the last according to the interpretation of each) line. This fishing is done without pointer. Throwing line to the side or the front, by the action of the wind on the outboard and the fishermen, the boat moves away from buoys producing the gareteo. This technique generally gives more fishing because it goes along a larger surface of laguna. We play with Crappie, from tail to head.

Cabrera moved continuously line, holding it and moving the tip of the fishing rod to try to provoke the pique. And I got it almost always. Silverside took the branch line longer, taking it sideways until the precise moment of the canazo.

They were 28 to 38 cm, very well-nourished and combative silverside. You should avoid letting loose nylon to not nail false. This fishing is done with the pickup of the open reel and as the boat moves is nylon with sliding up and down the cane, always fair and without retaining the line, except when you want to you give movement. When it comes to nailing the pickup is closed, moves down the shank and is collected the loose nylon to a blow up arm to reach the buoy nailing the fish.

The fishing was interesting. As we capture some dentudos, we had steaks since we knew that the Silversides took it well. We take two fillets by dentuda, we left the scales and spines by lowering the meat so to incarnate them they would have movement. Finally, we cortábamos them in 1 × 4 cm strips and spent by the bait of flesh to skin.

Other sectors

The wind stopped blowing, the lagoon is mangled and pique was decreasing. Cabrera decided to relocate, I wanted to try in sectors lower with depths of no more than 2 m. Arriving the anchor hung up without hitting bottom, the vessel was just fixed. We put a pointer to zoom out the lines of the trucker and with small movements of the Reed gave her life to the bait. It was the only way to have pique in that area of the mirror.

After a while he began to again blowing wind, activating the fishing. We stayed there because the fish had attractive measures. Follow gareteando until we decided to stop fishing. Then we got together with Diego boat, checking had similar catch, some of very good size. Unlike us, when the lagoon is mangled them followed with good pique, perhaps owing to the sector of the lagoon were tested.

Large fennel has very good fishing. The branch line that yielded more was 50 cm, should use medium buoys without much resistance, fish with N ° 2 or 3 series Owner or Mustad hooks and try to garetear. With that he reaches for fun a good time.
